Hywel Evans

Co-General Counsel, Global Banking & Markets



Hywel Evans is the Global Co-General Counsel for Global Banking & Markets (GB&M) at HSBC. GB&M has offices in more than 60 countries and territories and offers clients a range of products including Global Markets, Banking and Capital Financing, Payments and Cash Management and Securities Services. Hywel was admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales in 1995 and has over 20 years’ experience in banks and financial institutions including Deutsche Bank and NatWest Markets. During his 10 years at Deutsche Bank Hywel spent three years working in Emerging Markets Structuring before joining HSBC as EMEA head of GM legal. Over the recent past Hywel has advised the GB&M business extensively on conduct controls and standards with particular reference to sales and trading post recent regulatory and law enforcement actions. Additionally, Hywel has focused on the contractual negotiations and document production within GB&M and how the controls and the service delivery components can be better resourced and serviced through better use of technology.
